From the first reported cases of HIV in the world to the present day, there have been countless deaths caused by this disease, amounting to more than 42 million deaths. Currently, almost 40 million people live with this disease worldwide, with around 1 million in Brazil alone, spread across the states. Considering that the majority of these individuals will be cared for by the SUS, knowledge of the epidemiological profile of each region can help to better approach this population. The aim of this study was to outline the epidemiological profile of reported HIV cases living in the state of Goiás. To this end, a descriptive cross-sectional observational study was carried out using secondary data obtained from DATASUS. There were 3,934 notifications between 2020 and 2022, with a predominance of males (75.6%), aged between 20 and 34 years (48.3%), brown (37.0%), with completed high school (13.9%) and born in Goiania. Also noteworthy was the fact that many notifications were incompletely filled in, especially for more specific data such as means of transmission and color, negatively affecting the definition of the epidemiological profile.
