PERMEABLE PAVEMENT AS A SOLUTION IN THE MINEIROS STREAM BASIN, MINEIROS-GO

Rapid urbanization has drastically transformed the local hydrological cycle, replacing natural surfaces with impermeable coverings that hinder water infiltration into the soil. This study analyzes the potential of permeable paving as a flood mitigation strategy in the Mineiros stream basin, in Mineiros (GO), with a spatial focus on the Taninho neighborhood. The main objective is to evaluate the viability of this technology as a sustainable management alternative to the urban drainage challenges in the region. To this end, the methodology was based on a qualitative analysis of the basin's morphometry, using SRTM altimetric data processed in a GIS environment, in addition to the evaluation of historical precipitation series focusing on accumulated events of 120 minutes. The results indicate that the steep relief, with elevation differences greater than 100 m, favors rapid surface runoff, reducing the concentration time and increasing the risk of flooding. In this context, the technical literature indicates that permeable paving has the potential to promote infiltration and temporary storage of rainwater, reducing peak runoff. It is concluded that the application of this technology represents a relevant alternative for flood control, especially in areas with geomorphological characteristics that enhance surface runoff, with further quantitative studies being necessary to validate its effectiveness in the specific context of the studied basin.
