Abstract

Asphalt pavements on highways are subject to the development of pathological manifestations resulting from traffic loading, climatic conditions, and the natural deterioration process of materials. In this context, this study aimed to identify the main pathological manifestations in the pavement of the BR-364 highway segment between the municipalities of Mineiros and Jataí, in the southwestern region of the state of Goiás, as well as to indicate the interventions carried out for its maintenance and rehabilitation. The research is applied in nature, with a qualitative and descriptive approach, based on bibliographic review and document analysis. Typical manifestations in flexible pavements were identified, such as cracking, permanent deformations, and surface wear, along with the evaluation of the interventions performed, including milling, reconstruction with Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA), and the application of asphalt micro-surfacing. The methodological procedures involved the collection of institutional technical data and their correlation with maintenance and rehabilitation techniques adopted to restore the functional and structural conditions of the pavement. The results indicated the occurrence of pathologies such as fatigue cracking, longitudinal cracking, rutting, patching, and pothole formation, mainly associated with the high volume of heavy traffic characteristic of the region’s logistics corridor. Maintenance interventions were also identified, including milling, reconstruction with HMA, micro-surfacing, and corrective maintenance operations. It is concluded that continuous monitoring and proper maintenance are essential to ensure pavement durability, improve traffic conditions, and guarantee user safety.
