PREVENTION OF CHILD SEXUAL VIOLENCE: EXPERIENCE REPORT IN THE CONTEXT OF ORANGE MAY

Abstract

The sexual abuse of minors is a serious and recurrent violation, requiring educational strategies to cope with it. This study aims to describe a university extension proposal developed as part of the Orange May initiatives, with children from 9 to 12 years old in psychological counseling in the municipality of Mineiros-GO. The approach used didactic materials and interactive activities to work on concepts of body protection and recognition of situations of vulnerability. The findings indicated that the participants assimilated basic notions about bodily privacy and identified protective figures in their surroundings. However, it was found that many caregivers had difficulties in dialoguing about the subject, revealing an important gap in the family environment. The experience demonstrated the potential of educational actions in the development of self-protection skills, while pointing out the lack of systematic initiatives aimed at the training of family members and educators.
