This study aims to report the challenges faced and the strategies adopted when interacting with hospitalized patients during Clown Therapy activities. This is an experience report about the experiences of members of the research and extension project "Doutores da Alegria de Mineiros" at the Centro Universitário de Mineiros (UNIFIMES) with patients in the ward and ICU at the municipal hospital Dr. Evaristo Vilela Machado, Mineiro-GO. The project began its activities in the second half of 2023, offering emotional support to patients through clown therapy groups, bedside visits, music therapy, mimes, jokes, among other activities. Although the majority of patients demonstrated positive receptivity, some were more reserved, raising questions about the challenges and strategies involved in clown therapy. In order to improve interaction with patients, strategies were adopted based on respect and adaptable to the needs of each individual, considering their personal limits and preferences.
