Abstract

This paper proposes a reflection on the ethical aspects involved in the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare, based on an analysis of recent scientific literature. The selection of studies was carried out in March 2025, through a simple review of the literature in the PubMed, Google Scholar and Virtual Health Library databases, using the descriptors “Artificial Intelligence” and “Medical Ethics”. After applying eligibility criteria — such as language (Portuguese, English or Spanish) and publication period (2020–2025) —, four articles were selected. The analysis of the texts prioritized discussions on data privacy, patient autonomy, accountability for algorithmic decisions, biases and risks of dehumanization of care. The results reinforce the need for a rigorous ethical approach in the incorporation of AI in clinical contexts, incorporating current technological means as a way to assist professionals previously qualified and constantly trained to use AI means in the appropriate clinical management of patients.
